Sponsored by I-95 Corridor Coalition
Wednesday, October 19
10:00 am – 5:00 pm
Overview
The ITS World Congress will hold its first ever Incident Management and Emergency Responder Day on Wednesday, October 19, 2011 to emphasize the importance of incident and emergency management in our transportation system. By holding this daylong event, the World Congress hopes to encourage networking and information sharing among incident and emergency responders and transportation professionals to enhance the contribution all make to public safety and congestion management and to highlight the invaluable role that technology plays. With great appreciation, we note that the I-95 Corridor Coalition will co-sponsor Incident Management and Emergency Responder Day.
Our Vision
Incident Management and Emergency Responder Day offers the opportunity for Incident Management and Emergency Response professionals to share both their successful use of technology as well as their unmet needs so that the ITS community might be better informed and responsive to the field. Our aspiration is for this World Congress to serve as a way for the emergency response/incident management field to channel this information to the ITS community such that it could inform future research, programming, and networking.
We also hope this event will stimulate local media attention around the challenges and opportunities for the transportation community to support emergency responders. In conjunction with local promotional efforts to attract attendance, outreach will take place to the media to highlight the work of local organizations.
Planned Events
The ITS World Congress will offer free admittance to incident management and emergency responders, including public agency representatives from fire and rescue, law enforcement, and EMS agencies to the Exhibit Hall and Technology Showcase (in the Convention Center Parking Lot) on Wednesday, October 19 from 10:00 am until 5:00 pm. “Road maps” to exhibits and demos that would be of special interest to Incident and Emergency Responders will be made available to help enhance everyone’s World Congress experience.
Attendees will be invited to an Overview on Incident Management and Emergency Response and ITS to be held in the Theater on the Exhibit Hall Floor at 10:30 am on Wednesday, October 19. The session will include a: Welcome from ITS World Congress Organizers, an overview on ITS and Incident Management /Emergency Response, a Florida-focused ITS Update, and a sketch of Exhibit Hall opportunities related to Incident and Emergency Response that attendees may wish to check out.
