Next-generation ITS
Today's ITS systems focus on roadside instrumentation with fixed sensors and surveillance devices such as CCTV. Alcatel-Lucent envisions that systems based on Connected Vehicles represents the future of ITS, which will allow cars, trucks, and buses to communicate with the roadside and with each other.

It will enable a firefighter at an incident scene to send real-time video to the traffic management center.
Real-time traffic information systems
