LYNX: Transit On-Board Real-time Traveler Information

LYNX will provide real-time dynamic traveler information on-board regular fixed route buses operating between the Orlando International Airport, the Orange County Convention Center, and the Walt Disney World Resort on Link (route) 111. Video content is also provided as an entertaining and informative feature for transit riders.

The system developed by Ayers Electronic Systems, LLC will utilize location information broadcast from the bus to a base station at the bus garage. This data is then polled to provide the real-time dynamic location of the bus on on-board displays and at kiosks located at the airport and at the convention center stop (Destination Parkway).

The system was developed using the Transit Communication Interface Protocol (TCIP), a suite of transit specific data standards developed by the transit industry and the American Public Transportation Association. The United States transit industry cooperatively developed these standards to ensure interoperability of transit related technologies.
