LYNX: Real-time Traveler Information
LYNX will demonstrate the dynamic traveler information system that was developed to provide real-time bus information to its customers using Links (routes) 4 and 50. The system developed by Ayers Electronic Systems, LLC using location information broadcast from the bus to a base station at the bus garage.
This data is then polled to provide the real-time dynamic locations of the buses on a kiosk at LYNX Central Station in downtown Orlando. Video content is also provided as an entertaining and informative feature for transit riders. "Back office" system modules will be on display to demonstrate how the data is collected and converted into customer friendly information.
The system was developed using the Transit Communication Interface Protocol (TCIP), a suite of transit specific data standards developed by the transit industry and the American Public Transportation Associatio. The United States transit industry cooperatively developed these standards to ensure interoperability of transit related technologies.
